How do you stop a rabbit from eating newspaper?

We have a little male lop bunny who not only likes to shred newspaper, but he is eating it. We lost a little guy last year who also ate paper. None of our other rabbits have eaten paper. How do you stop a rabbit from eating newspaper?
i have two rabbits and they have enough food and everything they need...but that wont stop one of them from eating it anyway...some just do some dont...mostly it is just ripping the newspaper up...so watch carefully...but eating newspaper that wouldnt cause him any harm at all...How do you stop a rabbit from eating newspaper?
Don't put funnies in. Chances are that it was more the ink than the paper that was the problem.

If you can - try to line with something else -- maybe try wax paper and see if that works. Or take a couple of old cotton t-shirts and use them to line the cage. Then you can have a couple of sets of ';cage liners'; and wash them as you switch them out.
Don'r give it newspaper
don't put news paper in the cage ...
Don't let him have newspaper. If you put it in his cage try only putting it on the bottom and then putting something else on top of it. Newspaper eating will not kill a bunny however as long as you don't use the shinny stuff or the stuff with colored ink on it. Try giving him more hay, if they don't have hay all the time they'll start eating anything they can. Hay shouldn't just be given sometimes a day he should always have it as well as pellets at all times of the day and night.
It's ok for rabbits to play with newspaper, as long as it's the normal black and white print. This is non-toxic. As long as they aren't eating large amounts it's ok. All of mine eat a little when they shred it.

If he is eating large amounts, just take it all away and don't use it in the cage. It's not very good litter anyways, especially since they just end up playing with it. Try wood pellet litter such as Feline Pine, Woody Pet, or Equine Pine instead. It's super cheap at feed stores, is heat-treated so it's safe, and is the most absorbent litter I've found so far.
could you put some sort of diluted pepper spray on the paper? Maybe rub in a little Tabasco sauce?

PS%26gt; Mix Tabasco with water in a spray bottle and mist it all over the paper shreds....It may work.....
he will eat it if there so dont give him newspaper give him wood or something he cant eat or give him more treats that he can eat!
You have some good tips here already, but it sounds like the little guy might be bored. If your rabbit is shredding the paper he probably wants to play. Get a toy for him that you know he can't eat. For example, I have given my bunnies plastic toy cat balls that they can't get their teeth on. Also try a stick, any stick from your yard that hasn't had chemical contact.
Keep the newspapers that you have in your home on tables or other high areas so your bunny cannot get at them. My rabit has to live outside and he eats wood!! He isnt sick or anything. But newspaper does have lots of ink on it so i can see why you are worried. Just keep the paper away. Give him lots of toys like chew toys for rabbits. And if there is a newspaper on the floor and you catch him sniffing it, but then leaves it alone i would give him a treat so he knows hes doing the right thing. Good luck!
