Rabbit!?!?

okay im thinking of getting a rabbit, i dont really know much about them, so maybe you could help. what are all of the basics to owning a rabbit. what price range are they in for just the rabbit. how much do cages cost, how big of a cage. what type of food. please put web sites that have good sources of information and pictures of good cages. i also would like to know about taming them , if i get one at the pet stotre would it already be tamed, and spayed? and how much would i need just getting all of the basic things to start off with? So i need help with just about everything.Rabbit!?!?
I have a rabbit (Tarintino). He's the best thing that has ever happened to me and he's the best pet i've ever had....

But rabbits are alot of work, they are not like a dog or a cat were you can just feed and play with them and thats it. they are delicate animals with fragile bones, and they can break their backs easily, so they don't like to be held. you have to keep their environment very clean or they get sick (snuffles) or you have to watch their diet or they will get backed up (colon impaction), also some food can be poison, or hazardous to them. they get stressed out easy and thats bad. they shed alot of fur twice a year.

I got my rabbit from the humane society, he was a full size rabbit, so the cost was in his food, toys, chicken wire for the indoor and outdoor cage, litter boxes, cat castles.

Rabbits are great pets, but you have to really want to put alot of time and effort into a pet, they live for up to ten years to its a commitment. Rabbits are funny cute animals so I would say REALLY do your research and look into it before getting one, alot of people neglect them, or don't realize they aren't cuddly pets and thats how they end up in shelters. don't just get one cause it's cute. They arn't like a dog or a cat where they play or cuddle.Rabbit!?!?
Kirstin Kay, rabbits are only mean if your mean to them or if they feel threatened.

I got my rabbits for around 15$ from a petstore, when they were babies. They are dwarf rabbits and stay pretty small. Cages can get quite expensive and range in price depending on if your keeping the bunny inside or outside. The cage needs to big enough for the rabbit to have room to play around in. The cage could probably be smaller if you kept it out of the cage alot- but a cage should be at least 4 times the size of your bunny--more if he is confined for a large amount of the day. You can build or buy your rabbit a two-storey ';condo'; with the floors connected by a ramp--they love this! They are very skiddish if they arent handled. So the more you play with and handle the rabbit the more tame it will be. Rabbits I dont think if you buy it from apet store it will be spayed or neutered, if you adopt one from somewhere that may be diff. My bunnies arent ';fixed';. They are all guys and they all get along together (thier not aggressive toward one another like some unfixed males can be) Youll need to get bedding for the rabbit to use at the bottom of his pen or in his house etc. it's around 2-3$ for a small bag and like 10$for a huge bag. I prefer aspen. Pine bothers some rabbits skin and cedar is never to be used because it can give them respiratory issues. Depending on the size of the cage a big bag will last for a couple of cleanings. My rabbit eats pellets as a main diet and has a continuos supply of hay. Hay is around 5$ a week. Then they get various vegetables ie carrots, apples sliced so they dont get seeds, cilantro, dandelions. Youll of course need things like a water and food bowl. Or you can use a water bottle. One of rabbits doesnt like the water bottle so my rabbits have both options. ALso bunnies need lots of things to chew on. YOull also need to trim thier claws like every 3 months. So youll need clippers.

your price range could be any where from 8 to 100 dollars, it really depends on where you get it they could be places like your local feed store or your local petco or petsmart.how big the cage is should be fit for how big you want your bunny, ill give you a web site that shows you the prices of cages and other necessities. it might be tamed, and it might not, it should say on the description.i have my own bunny. hes really sweet.enjoy!
Rabbits are ALOT of work. the cost for a rabbit is usually around $50-$100, just for the rabbit. When I got mine, I got a small cage for $50, but then he outgrew it, so we got a bigger cage for $105. The starting amount for the supplies were around $60, and its about $10 a month for food, timothy hay, veggies, fruits, and bedding. 9 times out of 10, a rabbit will not like to be held. Some rabbits will tolerate being held for about a minute, then they will kick and scratch. You have to get the rabbit to trust you. Spend time with it during the day, and talk to it. Also, they need at least 1 hour of play time outside of the cage every day. Ok, I am 15, and I got my rabbit about 6 months ago. I should have gotten a cat. Cats are smarter, and they cost less, and they are less work. Rabbits are dumb, hate to be held, they stink, and they dont play with you. No I have to find him a new home because he makes so much noise in his cage at night (for no reason), that it keeps me up at night, and he isnt even in my room. Just thought I could help with some personal experience.
DONT GET A RABBIT!!!!!! I wanted a dog once, but my sisters decided they wanted a rabbit, and my mom, not liking the idea of a dog, bought us a rabbit. We got a Russian White, or something like that. But let me tell you why you dont want a rabbit. They look all cute and fluffy sitting in a pet shop and you just wanna take one home and love him to pieces. That works for a year or so. But what they dont tell you is that rabbits get big, they get fat, and they get MEAN. We had this rabbit for about 4 years, and it was nice at first, but it became bunny from hell. It would bite and thump, and scratch adn just tear me all to hell. i still have scars. She got old and she got grouchy. It got to be that if you wernet bringing her food, she didnt want you around. She never wanted out of her cage and wouldnt let us pet her or anything. When my sisters and I got older and moved away, we gave her to someone who breeds bunny, and shes doing fine outside in a hutch living withthe other bunnies, but not as a pet.

My mom had a rabbit when we were little and it was a good little bunny, it loved to be petted and would jump up on your lap and was the nicest thing, but it got out one day, and never came back. It was trained to use a litter box and was just all around a good bunny. Maybe our bunny was just a bad bunny, but I dont recommend it. We had a cage that was about 3x3x feet and we let her out all the time to run around. Thet are tame from a pet store but I dont know about spayed. You can buy everything you need at a petco or a petsmart. You need chew toys, and food, and bowls and water bottle and we had a collar and tags for ours. If you want one get one, we had one good one and one bad one, but dont be suprised if it turns evil after a bit.
i got a rabbit about a week ago, i didnt know much about them eiether. i love my rabbit, there a really nice pet to have.

when i got my rabbit it took ages for me to pick one that i loved because they were all so gorgous! i looked for one that looked the most healthiest and unique..bright eyes, clean ears, active and clean fur. mine was about $20.00 but it depends on what breed you get. i built my rabbits cage so i am not sure how much the cages would cost. my rabbits cage has 2 areas: a big open area with its food and water and whatever else and then another part with a little open door so it can get in , its dark and enclosed but has a door over it so i can my rabbit out, the rest of the cage has wire mesh over the top..i put a blanket over it at night so she doesnt get cold. make sure the cage is big enough so it can run around. for food i feed my rabbit a rabbit mix that i get from the pet shop, i brought it because that is what she was eating since she was born so i wasnt changing her diet. i try not to feed my rabbit to many fruit and veges, just a snack on a carrot or apple about once a week..try not to feed them fruit %26amp; veges every day or they can get a sick tummy and could die. always make sure there is clean water available because they might get thirsty! the most annoying thing about owning a rabbit is that they poo and pee alot, but i am trying to litter train mine at the moment. just put lots of newspaper and wood shavings in and clean out the cage as much as you can so it doesnt smell, and is fresh for your rabbit. here are some websites you might find useful: http://www.fuzzy-rabbit.com/, http://members.iinet.net.au/~rabbit/qfsr.htm
