Rabbit deterrent- can anyone suggest a succesful way to keep rabbits from a veg plot?

i know a fence is the obvious solution but cost is an issue, so any alternatives would be greatly appreciated. also has anyone used one of those sonar things that repel bunnies?

I use electric rabbit fencing- available in 50 or 100 mtr. rolls(complete with posts) and a small energiser (you can even get them solar powered ) Seems expensive at first, but I have been using the same one for 15 years now and it is down to about 拢10 per year.
I have tried all sorts and nothing works. I even tried curry plant chives, chilli's and garlic and the blasted things ate them all. Do you live in the UK? As Wilkinson's are the cheapest for 1'; chicken wire netting at 拢5 a roll. We have just resorted to this for our allotment.
Not all fencing is expensive, and that is the best way.
Try putting sprinkling dog urine or coyote urine around the garden to kind of mark the garden off. It's a way of keeping them away through a predator's scent.

No seriously now, I'd say get a pet like a dog or cat, not so it neccesarily kills the rabbits but just scares them away
Try going to your Barber and getting some hair. Place the hair around the plants you don't want Buggs eating. If that doesn't work try going to a dog groomer and getting some hair from them....it should work.....one of them

i agree with mike4400 use either human hair or dog hair and put it out every 2 weeks, we used this in our gardens not only to keep rabbits and small game out but it also kept the deer out of it. its free and easy to use
if u dont havepets or kids you should try moth balls
plant some chives around your veggies or flowers. it works great
