Does a domesticated rabbit make a good pet?

I have 3 dogs and have owned hamsters and a bird before, but I don't know how much labor is involved in owning a rabbit. Can anyone tell me what to expect? Do they roam free like cats or keep them caged like hamsters? Can they be litter trained? Any help would be appreciated.Does a domesticated rabbit make a good pet?
they make excellant pets. i have two and they are the best pets i could have ever gotten. rabbits are very clean animals and you can even litter train them. also if you are looking for a pet that won't make a lot of noise a rabbit would be great. unless you can spend tons upon tons of time with one though you may want to consider getting two, they are very social and like to have a bunny buddy.Does a domesticated rabbit make a good pet?
I had a friend who had a domesticated rabbit for a while and I didn't think it was a good pet at all. Its rear legs were very powerful and it would scratch and injure its owner and his family by accident with them. It never quite got the hang of using a cat litter box and often left pellets around. I've owned and loved dogs and cats and could not imagine owning a rabbit.
You can litter box train them just like a cat and they can roam around the house free. Just don't let them roam free outside.
I had a dwarf rabbit for almost 12 years! He had a cage where he went to eat and poop but he had free roam of the apartment ... we had no other pets ... as far as training ... he came when called and knew to use his cage as a bathroom and for eating ... that was about it ... with your other animals, I don't know if you should get a rabbit ... it might be okay with the other animals but very stressful for your rabbit.
It is excellent, feed it regularly, when it's ready, there are many excellent recipes which you will enjoy.
Yes .Itried it and now I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
rabbits are terrible pets. i'll be damned if you can find a way to toilet train them. you'll have to get a hutch outside, and you'll never really get to play with it besides sticking your hand in and petting it, hoping it doesn't gnaw your fingers off. and have i mentioned how badly they stink?

rabbits should be thought of like squirrels. cute and fuzzy critters, but best left to roam in the wild
No. All they do is eat, sleep, poop and make a lot of little rabbits.
no......... the rabit froze over night, it stunk......

good question........

It depends on what kind of pets you like. Rabbits are good pets but they are not fun to play with or cuddly like dogs are. They are kind of just there, not really a purpose to them.
yes they make great pets. if you get a young one thats about 8 weeks to about 5 months you can litter trian them. if given free rain of the house they will not normally go back to tuse the litter box like a cat will. the poop is hard except for the ';night feces'; they normally eat these. spaying and nurting is most of the time more trouble than it is worth. its really not something most vets know how to do right on a rabbit. while they can scratch if you handle them well and hold them probly it will be fine. you should keep its nails cliped or it may scratch you but it normally is not very hard. if you have other questions about therm feel free to ask me as i raise them for show, pets, meat and fur for the past 10 years
